"Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. Matthew 14:29- 31a.
A farmer living on the edge of one of the many lakes of Minnesota started to cross it in a small sail boat one evening after dark. The wind suddenly changed, ...Read Full Post »

THE CHRIST OF COMMON FOLKS.
I love the name of Christ the Lord, the Man of Galilee,
Because He came to live and toil among the likes of me.
Let others sing the praises of a mighty King of kings;
I love the Christ of common folks, the Lord of common things.

I was just thinking how so many people believe that life after death is an absolute impossibility. Life beyond the grave - impossible. It is interesting how man's response to what we consider to be impossible is always, a sneer, a snort or mocking laughter. A man landing on the moon - impossible. Electric cars - get out of here, no way. Get news from around the world in an instant, impossible. Yet, we know that in each case the so-called impossible was achieved. But...Read Full Post »

I was just thinking about the many Christians who have difficulty accepting the truth that prayer is not to change God; it is to be changed by God. Perhaps that is why so many have either given up on prayer, avoid it, or abandon the God they cannot control.
Somewhere, way back in the instinctive zone of our minds is the conviction that if we will just continue to pray unceasingly, something will...Read Full Post »

I was just thinking that today, September 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks to happen on American soil, many Americans and sympathizers around the world will pause to reflect, pray, share sorrows.
Well, the question is what have we Americans been doing since the terrorist devastation? My observations sadly affirm that far too many of us are still hating, still murderi...Read Full Post »

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? ... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:35, 37.
I was just thinking that really there is no other failure than the failure that exists within. You never really fail until you fail on the inside of yourself. Whe...Read Full Post »

I was just thinking about time and how brief the amount of time we have on this planet. The longest life is but a short drama. Man appears on the stage of life, acts out a few scenes, takes his final bow, and is seen no more. All we have is that short interval between birth and death. Each day of our life should, therefore, be an important and meaningful period of worthwhile life activities. We do not have the time for pettiness and trivialities or a lot of foolishness b...Read Full Post »
